The site marks a point of arrival to Cardiff, adjacent to Cardiff Central Station, Millennium Stadium and the city centre – offering great opportunities for new hotel uses. To the east, a zone designated for future development exists; a new central square is envisaged connecting to the train station and city network.
The hotel block is raised above ground, positioned upon a public glass box with restaurant and bar facing on to the square. The dynamic interaction between the main forms defines the prominent corner between Central Square and the main route towards the River Taff. A large slot is cut in to the block exposing a living green wall. A varied fenestration provides identity to each of the standardised rooms whilst responding to specific opportunities for framed views of the city.
